CAIT COMMUNICATION TO DONALD TRUMP SEEK INDO US SMEs BUSINESS CORRIDOR CAIT HAS SOUGHT APPOINTMENT WITH PRESIDENT TRUMP DURING HIS INDIA VISIT
The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), apex body of trading community of the Country has sent a communication today to US President Mr. Donald Trump seeking an audience with him during his forthcoming visit to India. In the present context when CAIT has launched an aggressive campaign against Amazon & Walmart owned Flipkart, this move seems to be strategic and interesting.
CAIT Secretary General Mr. Praveen Khandelwal today said that besides sending a communication to Mr. Trump, the CAIT has also sent communication to Union Commerce Minister Mr.Piyush Goyal, Foreign Minister Mr. S.Jaishankar, Mr. Kenneth Ian Juster, US Ambassador in India and Mr. Taranjit Singh Sandhu, Indian Ambassador in US requesting them to facilitate a meeting of CAIT delegation with US President Mr. Donald Trump.
In its communication to Mr. Trump, the CAIT said that Indian traders delighted towards his forthcoming visit to India . The CAIT added that 70 million SMEs in India are considered to be the backbone of Indian economy and a preferential sector, not only providing employment to about 450 million people but the sector also generates an annual business turnover of about 650 billion US dollars and therefore it will be in fitness of things if a Indo US SMEs Business Corridor is facilitated under the broad policy guidelines of the Government of India.
The CAIT further said that under the regime of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, the SMEs have remained on top priority of the Government of India. The visionary call of Prime Minister for Digital India, Skill India, Make in India, etc. has given new avenues of growth of trade and commerce which is evident from the fact that growth rate of Indian SMEs has grown to more than 15% per annum and as such the role of SMEs has become important in development of bilateral trade between India & US.
The CAIT has further said that India being one of the largest consumers driven economy has always been the most viable destination for rest of the World for better business opportunities and that itself has encouraged and prompted US based Companies to make India as one of the prime business hubs for their business activities. Reciprocating the same, the Indian citizens have always welcomed ethical, fair and best business practices from abroad resulting into huge growth in their business.
The CAIT has sought an appointment with President Donald Trump for a CAIT delegation consisting of senior trade leaders of the Country to explore better business opportunities between SMEs of both Countries.
