Breaking News: Major Disruption in Mumbai Rail Services Following Goods Train Derailment

In a significant incident, a goods train, identified as the JNPT/DLIB Container train, derailed between Kasara and TGR-3 DOWN line section at 18:31 hrs on the Down Main line in Mumbai Division.

The derailment led to two wagons going off the tracks, causing substantial disruptions in mail express traffic in the Kasara to Igatpuri DOWN section. The middle line has also been affected, impacting the flow of trains.

Despite the severity of the incident, it’s essential to note that suburban local train traffic remains unaffected. Additionally, the Igatpuri to Kasara UP section traffic is running smoothly without any disruptions.

Authorities have taken swift action in response to the derailment. Accident Relief Trains (ART) have been mobilized to the accident site, with one stationed at Kalyan station road and another at Igatpuri station rail.

As a consequence of the disruption, two prominent trains, DN 12261 CSMT-Howrah Express and DN 11401 CSMT-Adilabad Nandigram Express, have been detained until further notice.

Diversion of Mail Express Trains:

Due to the goods train derailment in the Kasara-TGR3 section, several mail express trains scheduled for journeys commencing on 10/12/23 have been diverted. The affected trains include:

  1. 17612 CSMT Nanded Express: Diverted via Kalyan-Karjat-Pune-Daund-Latur route.
  2. 12105 CSMT Gondia Express: Diverted via Kalyan-Pune-Daund-Manmad route.
  3. 12137 CSMT-Firozpur Punjab Mail Express: Diverted via Diva-Vasai-Udhana-Jalgaon route.
  4. 12289 CSMT Nagpur Duronto Express: Diverted via Diva-Vasai-Udhana-Jalgaon route.

The total number of DN mail express trains affected includes:

  • 12261 CSMT Howrah Express at Asangaon station
  • 11401 CSMT Adilabad Nandigram Express at Ombarmalli station
  • 12105 CSMT-Gondia Vidarbha Express at Ghatkopar station
  • 12109 CSMT Manmad Panchvati Express at Vikroli station
  • 17612 CSMT Nanded Express (Departed from CSMT)
  • 12137 CSMT Firozpur Punjab Mail Express (Departed from CSMT)
  • 12173 LTT Pratapgarh Express at Kasara station.
