Army, Assam Rifles, and Air Force, along with civil administration, have worked tirelessly to restore law and order in Manipur

On May 3 and 4, 2023, the Manipur government requisitioned the army and Assam Rifles to address inter-community clashes in some districts of Manipur. The quick and effective response by security forces resulted in the rescue of civilians of all communities from various affected areas. As a result, Churachandpur, KPI, Moreh, and Kakching are now under firm control, with no major violence reported since the previous night.

However, in the past 12 hours, there have been sporadic incidents of arson and attempts to establish a blockade in Imphal East and West districts by hostile elements. Nevertheless, the security forces responded firmly and synergized their efforts to control the situation. Additional columns were also inducted to support the forces.

In the past 48 hours, the army, Assam Rifles, and Air Force, along with civil administration, have worked tirelessly to restore law and order in Manipur. They have undertaken various activities such as proactive rescue operations, flag marches, area domination, and interaction with locals and influencers to reassure them of their safety.

Approximately 13,000 civilians have been rescued and are currently staying in various ad-hoc boarding facilities created within Company Operating Bases and Military Garrisons. More than 100 columns are currently working tirelessly towards restoring law and order in Manipur at the earliest.

The Indian Army is committed to restoring law and order in the region and appeals for peace. They urge all communities to refrain from resorting to violence
