Ahmedabad-Mumbai Bullet Train Gantry Collapse Disrupts Rail Services

Ahmedabad, March 24, 2025 – A segmental launching gantry being used for the construction of the Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train viaduct collapsed at the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) worksite near Vatva, Ahmedabad. The incident, which occurred at 22:10 hours, resulted in an Overhead Equipment (OHE) breakdown, affecting train movement in the downline between Geratpur and Vatva.

Incident Details

The NHSRCL stated that the gantry collapsed while retracting after placing a concrete girder. However, it slipped from its position and fell onto the adjacent railway tracks, leading to the breakdown of the overhead power lines. Fortunately, there were no injuries to passengers or railway staff.

Senior officials from NHSRCL and railway authorities promptly reached the site, deploying cranes and other heavy machinery to clear the debris and restore train operations. Restoration work is in full swing to normalize railway traffic as soon as possible.
