12 Bangladeshi Nationals, Including 3 Minors, Detained at Teliamura Railway Station in Tripura

Teliamura, Khowai District, November 22, 2024 – The Government Railway Police (GRP) and Border Security Force (BSF) detained 12 Bangladeshi nationals, including three minors, at Teliamura Railway Station in Tripura’s Khowai district. The group was apprehended while attempting to travel to Delhi in search of work. The BSF has taken the individuals into custody for further investigation.

The detained individuals, all from the village of Uttar Jaliya Para in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, include:

  1. Md Siddique (60), son of Maktul Hussain
  2. Manora Begam (50), wife of Md Siddique
  3. Md Ajijul Haque (24), son of Md Siddique
  4. Kohinur Akhtar (22), wife of Ajijul Haque
  5. Nur Siddique (5 years), son of Ajijul Haque
  6. Sutariya Yasmin (6 months), daughter of Ajijul Haque
  7. Md Aziz Ullah (22), son of Md Siddique
  8. Sagarika Yasmin (20), wife of Md Aziz Ullah
  9. Md Yasim (1.5 years), son of Md Aziz Ullah
  10. Md Obaidullah (19), son of Md Siddique
  11. Umme Kulsum (23), wife of Obaidullah
  12. Jamila Khatun (5.5 years), daughter of Md Siddique

The group was attempting to cross into India from Bangladesh, having entered through the Silachari area in Gomati district, Tripura. They reportedly received help from a Bangladeshi tout who facilitated their illegal crossing of the international border.

During the detention, the authorities recovered two mobile phones: one Nokia keypad phone from Md Siddique and one Symphony keypad phone. The group had planned to travel to Delhi in search of employment opportunities.

The BSF has initiated further proceedings, and the detained individuals are under investigation for illegal border crossing and human trafficking facilitation.
