Raksha Mantri’s Visit to Arunachal Pradesh: Ensuring India’s Security Amid Global Uncertainty
India’s Raksha Mantri, Rajnath Singh, embarked on a crucial journey to the forward posts in Arunachal Pradesh on October 24, 2023, in a dedicated effort to assess the operational readiness of the Indian Armed Forces stationed along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). During this visit, he celebrated the festival of Dussehra with the troops, underscoring the significance of good prevailing over evil. He joined in the auspicious Shastra Puja at Tawang, emphasizing the unwavering commitment and righteousness of our Armed Forces, which mirrors the essence of the Vijayadashmi festival.
Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh acknowledged the indomitable spirit and unparalleled courage of the troops, who stand guard in challenging conditions along the border to ensure the safety of the nation and its people. He expressed the nation’s deep gratitude and pride in the exemplary service of these troops, who embody India’s growing stature on the international stage.
Singh’s visit to Italy also held significance as he paid homage at the Montone memorial, which commemorates the contributions of Naik Yaswant Ghadge and other Indian soldiers in World War II. This international recognition of Indian soldiers’ bravery underscores the nation’s rising global prominence.
Highlighting the current global scenario, Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh emphasized that there is no alternative to strengthening India’s security apparatus. He stressed that the government is committed to fostering indigenous production of defense equipment. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India has made remarkable progress toward ‘Aatmanirbharta’ (self-reliance) in defense manufacturing. The country is moving away from reliance on imports and is now producing a wide range of major weapons and platforms domestically. Foreign companies are encouraged to share their technology and engage in local production, contributing to the nation’s defense export capabilities.
Raksha Mantri’s visit also included a solemn moment at the Tawang War Memorial, where he paid his respects to the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice during the 1962 war. Accompanied by senior military officers, including Chief of the Army Staff General Manoj Pande, Raksha Mantri’s visit served as a tribute to the valorous heroes.
Furthermore, Rajnath Singh visited the 4 Corps Headquarters in Tezpur, Assam, where he reviewed the operational readiness of this formation situated in one of India’s easternmost regions. The visit offered insights into infrastructure development along the LAC and the deployment of advanced military equipment and technology to enhance the operational efficiency of frontline troops. Raksha Mantri commended the unwavering dedication and remarkable services provided by all ranks of the Corps under challenging conditions, reaffirming India’s commitment to bolster its security and defense capabilities.
