Joint Forces Kill Two LeT Terrorists in Baramulla

In the ensuing exchange of fire, two terrorists, identified as Shakir Majid Najar and Hanan Ahmad Seh of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) group, were killed

On 4 May 2023, a joint operation was launched by the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) along with Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) based on specific intelligence inputs of terrorists’ presence in the village of Wanigam Payeen in the Kreeri area of Baramulla district.

The terrorists hiding in a house fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party, which was effectively retaliated. In the ensuing exchange of fire, two terrorists, identified as Shakir Majid Najar and Hanan Ahmad Seh of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) group, were killed in the early hours of the morning.

During the search, security forces recovered one AK series rifle with two magazines, one 9mm pistol with a magazine, an Improvised Explosive Device, and other warlike stores from the encounter site.

The successful operation marks the second in the past 24 hours in the region, and is considered a major achievement for the security forces in their efforts to maintain stability and defeat the inimical elements in the Kashmir Valley.

The operation comes amid increased efforts by the security forces to maintain a stable security situation in the valley and crack down on militant groups operating in the region. This operation is likely to have a significant impact on the operations of the LeT group and will serve as a stern warning to other terrorist groups operating in the area.

Meanwhile, the JKP has urged civilians to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities, as the security forces continue their efforts to ensure peace and stability in the region
