Indian Navy Chief Holds High-Level Talks with Brazilian Counterpart to Boost Maritime Partnership
Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) of the Indian Navy, held extensive talks with Admiral Marcos Sampaio Olsen, Commander of the Brazilian Navy, during his ongoing official visit to Brazil.
The apex-level engagement focused on significantly strengthening the growing naval cooperation between India and Brazil, with emphasis on operational engagements, training exchanges, hydrographic collaboration, information sharing, and enhanced Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA).
Both leaders also explored new avenues to expand bilateral cooperation in defence industry collaboration, joint technology development, innovation, exchange of best practices, and capacity building.
In a statement, the Indian Navy highlighted that the meeting reaffirms the shared commitment of the two navies to deepen strategic convergence and bolster the India-Brazil maritime partnership, a key pillar of South-South cooperation.
This high-level interaction is expected to contribute to greater stability and security in the global maritime commons, particularly across the vast Indian and South Atlantic Oceans.
The visit underscores the expanding strategic alignment between the two major Global South democracies as they seek to play a larger role in ensuring a free, open, and rules-based maritime order.
