Women Celebrities and Achievers Applaud Introduction of Women’s Reservation Bill in Parliament
New Delhi, September 19, 2023 – In a historic moment, women celebrities and achievers gathered at the Indian Parliament to witness the introduction of the Women’s Reservation Bill, which aims to allocate a 33 percent quota for women in both the Parliament and State Legislative Assemblies. The bill was introduced during the ongoing special session of Parliament.
Several accomplished women were invited as special guests for the occasion, marking the introduction of the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam,’ the official title of the bill. Renowned actor Kangana Ranaut expressed her enthusiasm, describing it as a “historic day for the nation and its women.” She extended her gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for creating new opportunities for women, highlighting their increasing roles in various fields, including the military. Kangana revealed that her upcoming film, ‘Tejas,’ features her in the role of an Air Force pilot, symbolizing the evolving era for women in India.
Actress Esha Gupta, also present at Parliament, commended the progressive thought behind the Reservation Bill, emphasizing that it would grant equal powers to women and mark a significant step for the country. She praised PM Modi for fulfilling his promise.
Fashion designer Rina Dhaka hailed the Women’s Reservation Bill as a monumental victory for women in India, acknowledging the bill’s importance in addressing the underrepresentation of women in politics. She expressed her gratitude to Shri Anurag Thakur, Union Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs and I&B, for inviting women achievers to Parliament to witness this historic moment.
Union Minister Anurag Thakur declared the day as revolutionary and affirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring the bill’s passage in Parliament. He underscored that this initiative is an extension of the government’s efforts to empower women during the “Amrit Kal.”
