Udhampur Railway Station Honored as Martyr Capt. Tushar Mahajan (MCTM) Railway Station

In a solemn and deeply moving ceremony, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology, MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy, and Space, paid heartfelt tribute to the valiant sacrifices of heroes like Martyr Capt. Tushar Mahajan. Dr. Jitendra Singh unveiled the renaming of Udhampur Railway Station, now known as Martyr Capt. Tushar Mahajan Railway Station (MCTM), in honor of the brave soldier.

During the ceremony, Dr. Jitendra Singh emphasized the enduring debt of gratitude that the nation owes to those who make supreme sacrifices for its safety. He commended the unwavering dedication and selflessness exhibited by individuals like Martyr Capt. Tushar Mahajan, who gave their lives to safeguard the nation.

Dr. Jitendra Singh disclosed that he personally championed the cause of renaming Udhampur Railway Station after Martyr Capt. Tushar Mahajan back in 2017. He also engaged in discussions with the then Union Home Minister to advance the initiative. Now, with all formalities completed, Udhampur Railway Station stands as the Martyr Capt. Tushar Mahajan Railway Station—a long-awaited realization of a cherished dream.

Dr. Singh expressed profound gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his support and commitment to this cause.

Furthermore, he highlighted the significance of this renaming, emphasizing that the Udhampur Railway Station being named after Martyr Capt. Tushar Mahajan serves as a source of immense pride for the entire district. Moreover, it stands as a symbol of inspiration for the youth of Udhampur, urging them to follow in the footsteps of such brave individuals.

In his poignant speech, Dr. Jitendra Singh underscored the sacrifices made by those guarding our borders, highlighting that they remain vigilant while we sleep, go hungry when we eat, and lay down their lives so that we can continue to live in safety.

The parents of Martyr Capt. Tushar Mahajan, Shri Dev Raj Gupta and Smt. Asha Rani, as well as DDC Chairman Udhampur, Sh. Lal Chand, were among the dignitaries present during this momentous program.

It’s worth noting that Martyr Capt. Tushar Mahajan posthumously received the Shaurya Chakra for his heroic sacrifice in a counter-terrorism operation. The renaming of Udhampur Railway Station is a heartfelt tribute to his unwavering courage and dedication to the nation.
