Transformative Progress Update: DND-Faridabad-Sohna and Jewar Highway Development
In a significant update on the ongoing construction of the DND-Faridabad-Sohna and Jewar Highway (NH-148NA), authorities have released the latest progress report highlighting significant milestones achieved and future projections for this transformative infrastructure project.
Spanning a length of 60 kilometers, this ambitious corridor is poised to revolutionize connectivity across the National Capital Region (NCR), starting from the DND flyover and extending to the intersection of the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal section of the Western Peripheral Expressway and the Delhi Mumbai Expressway near Sohna.
With the objective of providing direct connectivity to traffic originating from North/East Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, and facilitating travel to key destinations including Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, and Mumbai via NH 48, and access to Kanpur, Lucknow, and Kolkata through NH 19, the project aims to significantly decongest the Delhi/NCR area.
The highway project, executed in three construction packages labeled PKG 1, 2, and 3, is progressing steadily, with each segment addressing specific geographical sections and traffic requirements.
PKG-I, stretching from DND Maharani Bagh to the sector 62-65 dividing road, is currently at 73% completion, with construction activities initiated in January 2022. Anticipated to be fully operational by December 2024, this segment promises enhanced connectivity through areas like Khizrabad, Batla House, and Okhla Vihar.
PKG-II, which began construction in August 2021, has made significant strides, boasting an impressive 83% progress rate. With completion expected by May 2024, this segment aims to streamline traffic flow from the junction with Jaitpur Pushta road to the sector 62-65 dividing road of HSVP.
PKG-III, the final segment of the project, has already achieved completion in May 2023, highlighting the commitment to timely project delivery. This section adds another layer of connectivity, linking the sector 62-65 dividing road with the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal section of the Western Peripheral Expressway and the Delhi Mumbai Expressway near Sohna.
The cumulative cost of these three packages amounts to Rs. 4463 Cr, with provisions for essential infrastructure including elevated sections, flyovers, vehicle underpasses, bridges, and culverts, ensuring comprehensive development.
Additionally, the strategic integration of Jewar International Airport connectivity with the highway at Km. 33.000 further enhances regional accessibility, providing seamless travel experiences for commuters.
Furthermore, construction of the 31-kilometer-long connectivity to the Jewar International Airport, initiated in June 2023, is progressing steadily, with an anticipated completion date of 20th June 2025.
As work on this transformative project continues at a steady pace, it underscores a significant leap forward in regional infrastructure development, promising enhanced connectivity and convenience for residents and travelers alike.
