The Ministry of Railways has approved the introduction of a new Vande Bharat Express (Train Nos. 26461/26462) connecting Firozpur Cantt. and Delhi, marking another milestone in the expansion of India’s semi-high-speed rail network in North India. The announcement was made through Railway Board circular No. 2025/CHG/16/NR/40-Part(4), issued on October 31, 2025.
The Firozpur–Delhi Vande Bharat Express (Train No. 26462) will depart from Firozpur Cantt. at 7:55 AM and reach Delhi at 2:35 PM, while the return service, Train No. 26461, will leave Delhi at 4:00 PM and arrive in Firozpur Cantt. at 10:26 PM.
The train will operate six days a week (except Wednesday), with commercial halts at Faridkot, Bathinda, Dhuri, Patiala, Ambala Cantt., Kurukshetra, and Panipat. Firozpur Cantt. will serve as the primary maintenance depot for the service.
This new Vande Bharat route is expected to significantly improve connectivity across Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi, providing passengers with faster travel options, modern onboard amenities, and enhanced comfort.
The Railway Board has directed Northern Railway to introduce the service at the earliest convenient date. An inaugural special service may be planned before regular operations commence. Officials have been instructed to ensure compliance with all operational requirements and to give wide publicity to the new service, emphasizing its importance for regional mobility and modernization under India’s expanding Vande Bharat program.
