Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Visit to Uttarakhand on October 12th: Key Highlights

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to embark on a significant visit to the picturesque state of Uttarakhand on October 12th, 2023. During his visit, he will engage in several significant activities aimed at bolstering the state’s development and promoting its cultural heritage.

The day’s itinerary is as follows:

1. Parvati Kund Pooja and Darshan at Jollingkong, Pithoragarh District

Commencing his visit at approximately 8:30 AM, Prime Minister Modi will arrive at Jollingkong in Pithoragarh District, where he will perform a special pooja and darshan at Parvati Kund. This sacred site holds immense spiritual significance and is surrounded by natural beauty. Additionally, the Prime Minister will seek blessings from the revered Adi-Kailash, enhancing the spiritual aura of the occasion.

2. Interaction with Local Residents and Personnel

Around 9:30 AM, Prime Minister Modi will reach Gunji village in Pithoragarh district. During this segment of his visit, he will engage with local residents, fostering a direct connection with the community. Furthermore, he will explore an exhibition showcasing local artistry and products. Prime Minister Modi will also have the opportunity to interact with personnel from the Indian Army, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).

3. Jageshwar Dham Pooja and Darshan in Almora District

At approximately 12 noon, Prime Minister Modi will arrive in Jageshwar, located in the Almora district. Here, he will partake in a pooja and darshan at the sacred Jageshwar Dham, which stands at an impressive altitude of about 6200 feet. This complex comprises around 224 stone temples, reflecting the region’s rich spiritual heritage.

4. Inauguration and Dedication of Key Development Projects in Pithoragarh

By 2:30 PM, Prime Minister Modi will return to Pithoragarh, where he will inaugurate, dedicate to the nation, and lay the foundation stones for a multitude of development projects collectively valued at approximately Rs 4200 crore. These projects span various sectors, including rural development, road infrastructure, power generation, irrigation, drinking water supply, horticulture, education, healthcare, and disaster management.

Notable projects to be inaugurated include:

  • 76 rural roads and 25 bridges constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
  • 15 buildings for Block Development Officer (BDO) offices across nine districts.
  • Upgradation of crucial roads, including the Kausani-Bageshwar road, Dhari-Dauba-Giricheena road, and Nagala-Kiccha road.
  • Upgradation of two National Highways: Almora Petshal – Panuwanaula – Danya (NH 309B) and Tanakpur – Chalthi (NH 125).
  • Multiple drinking water schemes and a significant infrastructure project, the Tharkot artificial lake in Pithoragarh.
  • The 132 KV Pithoragarh-Lohaghat (Champawat) Power Transmission Line.
  • Construction of 39 bridges across Uttarakhand.
  • The Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority (USDMA) building in Dehradun, funded by the World Bank through the Uttrakhand Disaster Recovery Project.

Additionally, Prime Minister Modi will lay the foundation stones for various transformative projects, including:

  • A scheme for the construction of 21,398 poly-houses to boost flower and vegetable production.
  • The cultivation of high-density intensive apple orchards.
  • Road upgradation projects for National Highways.
  • Initiatives aimed at enhancing disaster preparedness and resilience.
  • Development of hostels and computer labs in 20 model degree colleges across the state.
  • The construction of a 100-bedded sub-district hospital in Someshwar, Almora.
  • A 50-bedded hospital block in Champawat.
  • The establishment of an Astroturf Hockey Ground at Haldwani Stadium in Nainital.
  • A Velodrome Stadium in Rudrapur.
  • The Manaskhand Mandir Mala Mission Scheme for infrastructure development in temples, including Jageshwar Dham (Almora), Haat Kalika (Pithoragarh), and Naina Devi (Nainital) temples.
