Northern Railway Achieves Record ₹500 Crore Revenue in Parcel & Luggage Services

In a landmark achievement, Northern Railway has recorded an unprecedented revenue of ₹534.94 crore in its Parcel & Luggage services up to February 2025, reflecting a 10% growth compared to ₹485.39 crore in the same period of 2023-24. This milestone highlights Northern Railway’s commitment to efficiency, innovation, and customer-centric freight operations.

Key Revenue Contributors:

1. Indented Parcel Special Trains:

Northern Railway operated 151 special parcel trains, generating ₹35.08 crore in revenue.

2. Leased Seating cum Luggage Rake & High Capacity Parcel Vans (VHP) Earnings:

  • 266 Seating cum Luggage Rakes were leased, contributing ₹134.46 crore in revenue.
  • Additional leasing of High Capacity Parcel Van (VPH) coaches generated ₹129.78 crore (2 leased by Delhi division, 53 by other Railways).

3. Parcel Cargo Express Trains (PCET):

Northern Railway operates two Parcel Cargo Express Trains (ICOD/Panipat Junction–Yesvantpur Junction & Patel Nagar Railway Station–Royapuram Railway Station), awarded by other Railways, earning ₹29.95 crore.

4. Joint Parcel Product – Rapid Cargo Service Trains:

Two Joint Parcel Product-Rapid Cargo Service trains (ICOD–Yesvantpur Junction (Originating) & Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station (Return)) contributed ₹6.28 crore to the total earnings.
