NMDC Partners with IIT Kanpur: Signs MoU to Boost Cybersecurity, AI and Machine Learning in Mining Operations
India’s largest iron ore producer, NMDC Limited, has taken a major leap towards digital transformation by signing a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur to strengthen cybersecurity and accelerate the adoption of cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML).
The MoU was signed by Mr. Satyendra Rai, Executive Director (Digital Transformation), NMDC and Prof. Ashoke De, Dean of Research & Development, IIT Kanpur, in the presence of Prof. Manindra Agrawal, Director, IIT Kanpur, Shri Amitava Mukherjee, Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD), NMDC, and senior officials from both organisations.

- Development of robust cybersecurity policies, governance, and compliance frameworks
- Integration and advancement of AI and Machine Learning solutions in mining operations

- Capacity building, executive training programs, and knowledge exchange
- Joint research, pilot projects, and co-development of proof-of-concept (PoC) solutions
