Lakhimpur Railway Station Undergoes Transformation as Part of Amrit Stations Scheme

In a significant stride under the Amrit Bharat Stations initiative, the Lakhimpur Railway Station in Uttar Pradesh is undergoing a major transformation, enhancing travel facilities for passengers. The government has approved a budget of Rs. 8 crore for the redevelopment of this railway station, aiming to provide passengers with a delightful and comfortable travel experience.

As part of the Amrit Bharat Yojana, the comprehensive makeover of the selected Lakhimpur Railway Station has gained momentum. The ongoing initiatives include vacating old structures, breaking down boundaries between the ticket office and parking area, and dismantling unnecessary structures. The ambitious plan, scheduled to be completed by March 2024, aims to present the station as an airport-like facility, offering modern amenities and a visually appealing environment.

Approximately a thousand railway stations, including Lakhimpur, Gola, and Mailani Junction, are part of the Amrit Bharat Yojana across the country. The redevelopment of Lakhimpur Railway Station involves an investment of around Rs. 8 crore, aligning with the beautification plans initiated under the scheme. Boundaries between the ticket office and parking space at Lakhimpur Station have been removed, and directives have been issued to vacate old offices and residences. Platforms at the station are witnessing the relocation of waiting rooms and the station manager’s office.

The station premises and platforms are set to undergo aesthetic enhancements, incorporating local art and culture. Upgrades include surface refurbishment, station façade improvement, enhanced lighting in the premises, coach guidance systems, digital display boards, modernized waiting rooms, solar plants, water coolers, air conditioners, glow signs, LED installations, name boards, modernized restroom facilities, and more.

Additionally, for the convenience of passengers, a foot-over-bridge (FOB) will be constructed towards areas like Rajghar and Eidgah, where residents reside. This initiative not only uplifts the existing facilities but also integrates technology to provide a seamless and enjoyable experience for travelers at Lakhimpur Railway Station.
