Indian Railways Launches First Assured Transit Time Container Train on Delhi–Kolkata Corridor

Indian Railways, in collaboration with CONCOR, is set to roll out its first assured transit time container train service on a pilot basis between Delhi and Kolkata from October 1, 2025.
The service will operate from ICD Tughlakabad (Delhi) to CTCS Kolkata via Agra and Kanpur, with a guaranteed transit time of 120 hours. The dedicated train will run twice a week, every Wednesday and Saturday, providing a reliable alternative to road transport.
A unique hub-and-spoke cargo facility at Agra and Kanpur will enable efficient aggregation, while customers will also benefit from a waiver on empty wagon haulage charges from Tughlakabad to Kanpur.
The initiative promises assured and timely delivery of time-sensitive cargo, enhanced northern hinterland connectivity, and cost efficiency. By encouraging a modal shift from road to rail, the project also supports India’s green logistics push by reducing carbon emissions.
