East Central Railway GM Inspects Madhu Vihar Colony, Reviews ₹32-Crore Jagjivan Stadium Redevelopment

Chhatrasal Singh, General Manager of East Central Railway, on February 28, 2026, carried out an inspection of the Madhu Vihar Railway Colony and Jagjivan Stadium located in Danapur. The visit focused on assessing civic amenities for railway employees and reviewing infrastructure development plans aimed at improving sports facilities.
During his inspection of the Madhu Vihar Railway Colony, the General Manager reviewed cleanliness standards and facilities available to railway staff and their families. Expressing satisfaction over the maintenance of the colony, he directed officials to take further steps to enhance living conditions. These include the construction of a community hall for railway employees and the development of parks and play areas to promote recreational activities for children.
Chhatrasal Singh also reviewed detailed drawings and plans for the renovation and expansion of Jagjivan Stadium, which is set to be redeveloped at an estimated cost of ₹32 crore. Holding discussions with senior officials, he was briefed on the proposed facilities under the project, which include the construction of a hostel, pavilion and other modern infrastructure. He instructed officials to ensure high-quality construction standards and emphasized the need to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe.
The General Manager said that the redevelopment of Jagjivan Stadium would provide world-class sports facilities for railway employees, their families and local youth. He noted that such initiatives would help promote sports culture, teamwork, discipline and a healthy lifestyle among employees. “Indian Railways is not limited to providing transport services alone, but is also committed to social and human development,” he said, adding that upgraded sports infrastructure would offer a strong platform for nurturing sporting talent.
He also referred to the recent commencement of construction work on the Amrit Bharat Railway Stadium at Konharaghat Railway Colony in Hajipur, being developed at a cost of ₹7.14 crore. The stadium will feature modern cricket and football grounds to benefit railway personnel and local youth.
The inspection was attended by Danapur Divisional Railway Manager Vinod Kumar along with senior officers from the headquarters and the division.
