CBI Arrests Principal Chief Material Manager of Northeastern Railways in Graft Case
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended the Principal Chief Material Manager of Northeastern Railways, C. Joshi, on charges of accepting a bribe of three lakh rupees from a complainant. During the investigation, a sum of 2.61 crore rupees in cash was seized.
As per the CBI, the arrest of C. Joshi is based on a complaint filed against him at Northeastern Railways, Gorakhpur. The complaint alleges that Joshi (IRS: 1988) demanded and accepted a bribe of seven lakh rupees in exchange for not canceling the complainant’s firm’s registration on the railway portal.
The complainant’s company was supplying goods to the railways on an annual contract basis, providing supplies at a rate of eighty thousand rupees per truck per month.
The CBI conducted searches at the accused’s offices and residences in Gorakhpur and Noida, Uttar Pradesh, where they discovered 2.61 crore rupees in cash and incriminating documents.
The arrested accused has been presented before the competent court in Lucknow.
