“Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) Achieves Navratna Status: Boosting Progress and Autonomy”

RVNL is responsible for project development and execution of works throughout the project life cycle

The Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), a Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, has been awarded Navratna Status.

Established as a PSU on January 24th, 2003, RVNL was tasked with the swift implementation of rail infrastructure projects and the raising of extra budgetary resources for SPV projects. It commenced operations in 2005, after the appointment of its Board of Directors, and was granted Mini-Ratna status in September 2013. The company’s authorized share capital stands at Rs. 3000 Crore, with a paid-up share capital of Rs. 2085 crore.

RVNL is responsible for project development and execution of works throughout the project life cycle. It may create project-specific SPVs for individual works if required. Following completion of a railway project by RVNL, the respective Zonal Railway assumes responsibility for its operation and maintenance.

The conferral of Navratna status upon RVNL will grant the company increased delegation of powers, greater operational freedom, and financial autonomy, all of which will significantly boost RVNL’s progress, particularly as the company expands its presence into sectors beyond Railways and even into foreign projects
