New Track Slab Manufacturing Facility Opens Near Anand, Gujarat to Support High-Speed Rail Project
In a significant development, a cutting-edge Track Slab Manufacturing Facility (TSMF) has been inaugurated near Anand, Gujarat, to cater to the construction needs of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) Corridor. This state-of-the-art facility, spanning a sprawling area of 1 lakh square meters, is fully automated and geared towards the production of track slabs for the ambitious high-speed rail project.
Key Highlights of the Facility:
- Production Capacity: The facility is equipped to produce an impressive 45,000 precast track slabs, which will be instrumental in the construction of the 116-kilometer double-line high-speed rail track for the MAHSR Corridor.
- Rapid Construction: In an extraordinary feat of engineering, this facility was constructed within a mere eight months from the inception of civil works, underlining the efficiency and dedication of the project.
- High-Precision Moulds: A total of 60 high-precision moulds have been procured and installed within the facility, allowing for the production of 60 track slabs daily. This is a crucial step, considering that approximately 200 track slabs are required for every track kilometer.
- Storage Capacity: To ensure a seamless track installation process, the facility boasts a storage capacity of up to 9000 track slabs.
- Automation and Ancillary Facilities: The Track Slab Manufacturing Facility is fully automated and includes a Concrete Distribution System. It also features various ancillary facilities to support production, such as fully automated rebar processing machines, a rebar yard for cage fabrication, RO plant, boiler plant, curing ponds, electric overhead traveling (EOT) cranes, gantry cranes, and more. These advanced systems enable mechanized handling of track slab components.
- Japanese Expertise: Prior to commencing production, a comprehensive Training & Certification course was organized. Japanese experts, mobilized through the T&C agency JARTS from Japan, provided valuable training to Indian engineers, imparting best practices followed in Japan.
- Expansion Plans: In addition to this facility, another track slab manufacturing facility is in the works at Kim Village near Surat district in Gujarat. This second facility will be dedicated to track slab construction for the 236-kilometer stretch of the MAHSR corridor in Gujarat.
This new Track Slab Manufacturing Facility represents a significant milestone in the ongoing development of the high-speed rail project, underscoring India’s commitment to modern infrastructure and efficient transportation systems. With advanced technology and rapid construction timelines, it marks a crucial step forward in the realization of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor.
