Jyotiraditya M. Scindia to Inaugurate Tezu Airport’s Modernized Infrastructure on September 24, 2023

Tezu, Arunachal Pradesh: On the upcoming date of September 24, 2023, the Minister for Civil Aviation and Steel, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, will join hands with Pema Khandu, Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, to unveil the newly improved infrastructure at Tezu Airport. This substantial development, underpinned by a government investment of Rs. 170 Crores, encompasses a range of enhancements aimed at fortifying the airport’s capabilities.

Among the prominent upgrades are an extended runway, the construction of a state-of-the-art apron capable of accommodating two ATR 72 type aircraft, the erection of a brand-new terminal building, and the establishment of a combined fire station and Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower.

Tezu Airport, a domestic aviation hub nestled within Tezu town, spans an expansive area of 212 acres and currently operates with a single operational runway. Engineered to cater to ATR 72 aircraft operations, the airport’s development and refurbishment were orchestrated under the guidance of the Airports Authority of India (AAI), in response to a request from the State Government.

Tezu Airport embarked on its operational journey in 2018 as part of the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) UDAN initiative. At present, it offers regular scheduled flights connecting Tezu to Dibrugarh, Imphal, and Guwahati, with operations being managed by Alliance Air and Flybig Airline.

  • Peak Hour Serving Capacity: 300 passengers
  • Check-in Counters: 05 (with provisions for an additional 03 in the future)
  • Arrival Carousels: 02
  • Aircraft Parking Bays: 02, tailored to accommodate ATR-72 type aircraft.
