Indian Railways Takes Bold Strides in Enhancing Safety and Mobility with ROBs and RUBs Conversions
Eliminating Manned Level Crossings: ROBs and RUBs Construction in Full Swing
Indian Railways is making significant progress in ensuring safer train operations and increasing mobility by converting manned level crossing gates into Road Over Bridges (ROBs) and Road Under Bridges (RUBs). This ongoing process is being carried out across all Zones of Indian Railways, prioritizing the impact on safety, train mobility, road users, and feasibility.
Remarkable Accomplishments:
From 2014 to 2023, a total of 1654 ROBs and 9213 RUBs have been successfully completed, representing a monumental achievement in enhancing rail and road safety. The total expenditure for these endeavors has amounted to ₹30602 crores.
Sanctioned Projects and Allocations:
As of 25th July 2023, an impressive total of 1863 ROBs and 2490 RUBs have been sanctioned across all Zonal Railways, with various stages of planning and execution underway. For the year 2023-24, an allocation of ₹8000 crores has been set aside for these conversion projects, with ₹1549 crores already utilized by June 2023.
New Policy for Enhanced Safety and Efficiency:
To further bolster safety in train operations, improve mobility, and expedite road crossing works, Indian Railways has issued a new policy on 2nd March 2023, reflecting their commitment to advancing railway infrastructure and services.
