Indian Railways Records 3.5% YoY Growth in Freight Loading for April 2023
Railways Freight revenue in April is Rs 13,893 Cr. as compared to Rs 13,011 in April 2022, a growth of 7%.
Indian Railways (IR) has set another record by achieving Monthly freight loading of 126.46 MT in April 2023. This marks a 3.5% YoY growth, with an incremental loading of 4.25 MT in comparison to the April figures achieved in 2022. In addition, IR’s Freight revenue in April 2023 rose to Rs 13,893 Cr., up 7% from the previous year’s figure of Rs 13,011 Cr.
Coal remained the highest loaded commodity with 62.39 MT in April 2023 as compared to 58.35 MT in April 2022, followed by Iron ore at 14.49 MT and Cement at 12.60 MT. IR has made consistent efforts to improve its service delivery and ease of doing business at competitive prices, leading to new traffic from both conventional and non-conventional commodity streams.
