Indian Railways Increases Frequency of Vivek Superfast Express to Four Days a Week

The Indian Railways has announced that the frequency of the Vivek Superfast Express, which is the longest-distance train operated by the Railways, has been increased from two days a week to four days a week, effective from May 7, 2023. The decision was taken to meet the growing demand from passengers and to provide better connectivity between the two ends of the country.
The Vivek Superfast Express is a popular train that covers a distance of 4273 km and connects Dibrugarh in Assam to Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu. The train passes through 10 states, covering a total of 55 stations. The train has been running twice a week since its launch in 2011, but the Railways has now decided to increase its frequency to four days a week.
The decision to increase the frequency of the train was announced by Rameswar Teli, MoS for Petroleum and Natural Gas, along with Prasanta Phukan, MLA and the DRM (Divisional Railway Manager) of the Tinsukia division. They were present at a function held at the Dibrugarh railway station to mark the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Teli said, “The Vivek Express is an important train connecting the north-eastern part of the country to the southern part. With the increase in frequency, the train will now provide better connectivity and convenience to the passengers. The Railways is committed to improving the services and facilities for the passengers.”
The DRM of Tinsukia division, said that the decision to increase the frequency of the Vivek Express was taken after conducting a survey and analyzing the passenger demand. He added that the train has been fitted with new coaches and modern facilities to enhance the comfort of the passengers.
The increase in the frequency of the Vivek Superfast Express is expected to benefit a large number of passengers who travel between the north-eastern states and the southern states. The Railways has also announced that it will introduce more such initiatives in the future to improve the services and connectivity for the passengers.
