DGCA Streamlines Process for Heliport License Grant
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has taken steps to simplify the procedure for obtaining a Heliport License. In a recent development, applicants seeking NOC/Clearance from five external organizations can now conveniently submit their requests through a single tab in their eGCA profile.
The DGCA is responsible for granting Heliport Licenses and Operational Authorizations for heliports located at ground level, as well as those situated on elevated structures or rooftops, in accordance with the Aircraft Rules and relevant Civil Aviation Requirements (CARs). Individuals or organizations aspiring to acquire a license or authorization must complete an online application via the DGCA’s eGCA portal.
Previously, before submitting their online applications, applicants were required to separately approach the following five organizations, either through online channels or physical means, to obtain NOC/Clearance:
- Ministry of Home Affairs
- Ministry of Defence
- Ministry of Environment and Forests
- Airport Authority of India
- Local Administration
However, this process has now been streamlined, introducing a dedicated tab within the applicant’s eGCA profile. The tab enables applicants to route their NOC/Clearance requests to the five external organizations by simply utilizing the provided URL link or email contact. This simplification has significantly eased the application process for individuals, who can now apply for NOC/Clearances through a single window available on the eGCA portal.
Under the leadership of Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has placed particular emphasis on improving the ease of doing business in the aviation sector. The eGCA portal, launched by Shri Scindia in November 2021, aims to enhance the efficiency of various services provided by the DGCA. It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Civil Aviation has also introduced UDAN 5.1, a scheme focused on expanding connectivity to remote areas of the country, including through helicopters. This initiative will further facilitate the success of UDAN 5.1 by streamlining processes and ensuring last-mile connectivity.
