Central Railways Conducts Extensive Ticket Checking Drive at Thane Station

In a stern move to combat ticketless travel and ensure fair passenger practices, Central Railways recently carried out a large-scale ticket checking campaign at the Thane railway station. The operation took place on Monday, October 9, 2023, from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM.

The campaign witnessed robust participation, with the following key highlights:

  • Total TTEs Deployed: A formidable team of 120 Ticket Travelling Examiners (TTEs) was stationed at Thane station, diligently inspecting tickets and passenger documentation.
  • RPF Staff Presence: In addition to the TTEs, 30 Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel were actively involved in maintaining security and assisting with ticket checking.
  • Ticketless Passengers Apprehended: A total of 3,092 ticketless passengers were apprehended during the campaign, sending a clear message about the Railway’s commitment to curbing unauthorized travel.
  • Penalties Imposed: Stringent action was taken against the ticketless passengers, with a cumulative penalty amounting to ₹8.66 lakhs imposed on the offenders.
  • Average Enforcement Stats: On average, each TTE successfully apprehended 26 ticketless passengers, demonstrating the rigorous enforcement efforts undertaken during the operation. Furthermore, the average penalty imposed by each TTE stood at ₹7,220.
