Northern Railway Sportspersons Win 11 Medals at Asian Games 2026

Northern Railway has once again underlined its strong contribution to Indian sports, with 14 of its sportspersons representing the country at the Asian Games 2026 and making a significant impact across wrestling, kabaddi, hockey, boxing, cricket, cycling and shooting.
The Northern Railway contingent delivered an impressive medal haul, winning 11 medals — 10 Gold and one Bronze — while three other sportspersons represented India in their respective disciplines.
The achievement has brought considerable pride to Northern Railway and the Northern Railway Sports Association (NRSA), highlighting the organisation’s continued efforts to promote sports, identify talent and support athletes competing at the highest international level.
Gold Medals Across Wrestling, Kabaddi and Hockey
Wrestler Aman secured a Gold Medal for India in the 57 kg freestyle category, adding another major international achievement to Northern Railway’s sporting record.
In kabaddi, Pooja represented the Indian women’s team, while Ashu Malik was part of the Indian men’s team. Both athletes contributed to India’s Gold Medal-winning campaigns in their respective competitions.
Northern Railway also made a particularly strong contribution to Indian hockey. Yashdeep Siwach was a member of the Indian men’s hockey team that won the Gold Medal.
The organisation’s representation was even stronger in women’s hockey, with Neha, Ishika, Shilpi Dabas and Sakshi Rana playing for the Indian women’s team in its Gold Medal-winning campaign.
Together, these hockey players accounted for five Gold Medals for Northern Railway sportspersons, reflecting the depth of sporting talent nurtured within the railway organisation.
Boxing Adds a Bronze
In boxing, Priya won the Bronze Medal in the 60 kg category. Her performance added another medal to India’s tally and took the overall medal contribution of Northern Railway sportspersons to 11.
The Bronze Medal in boxing was the only non-Gold medal secured by a Northern Railway athlete at the Games.
Gold in Women’s Cricket
Northern Railway also had a strong presence in women’s cricket. Renuka Thakur and Pratika Rawal represented India and were members of the team that won the Gold Medal.
Their success further broadened Northern Railway’s contribution to India’s medal-winning performances, with its athletes excelling not only in traditional individual and team sports but also in cricket.
Representation in Cycling and Shooting
Three other Northern Railway sportspersons represented India at the Asian Games without winning medals.
Jemsh Keithellakram and Vishavjeet Singh competed in cycling, while Anish represented the country in shooting.
Their participation at a major continental sporting event nevertheless represents an important achievement and demonstrates the growing presence of Northern Railway athletes across a wide range of disciplines.
