Indian Railways Approves ₹252 Crore for Kavach 4.0 in Lucknow Division

Indian Railways has approved ₹252 crore for the deployment of Kavach Version 4.0 across 607.7 route kilometres of the Lucknow Division of North Eastern Railway.
The project will extend Kavach 4.0 coverage across the identified balance sections of the division, strengthening the train protection infrastructure for railway operations.
Kavach is India’s indigenous Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system, designed to enhance operational safety. The system helps prevent Signal Passing at Danger (SPAD) and can automatically apply brakes when required, supporting safer train movement.
The latest approval is part of Indian Railways’ ongoing efforts to expand Kavach across its network and modernise train protection systems. The deployment is aimed at strengthening railway safety, reliability and operational efficiency across the Lucknow Division.
