IAF Sarang Helicopter Team Reaches Egypt for El Alamein International Airshow
The Indian Air Force’s (IAF) Sarang Helicopter Display Team has arrived in Egypt to participate in the second edition of the El Alamein International Airshow, scheduled to be held from September 8 to 10, 2026, at El Alamein International Airport. The participation marks another important milestone in the IAF’s growing international engagement and is expected to further strengthen defence and diplomatic ties between India and Egypt.
The Sarang team, known for its precision flying and highly coordinated aerial displays, is the world’s only five-helicopter display team. During the three-day international airshow, the team will showcase a series of meticulously choreographed manoeuvres designed to highlight the agility, versatility and performance of India’s indigenously designed and manufactured Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv.
Flying the ALH Dhruv, the Sarang team has earned international recognition for its demanding formation manoeuvres, close-proximity flying and synchronised aerial sequences. The displays require a high degree of coordination, discipline and flying expertise, with pilots operating the helicopters in carefully planned formations.
At the El Alamein airshow, the team will perform its iconic “Dolphin Leap” manoeuvre, which is among its signature aerial displays. It will also introduce a new manoeuvre, the “Spot Stall Turn,” adding a fresh element to its performance in Egyptian skies.
