Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw Launches New Train Services, Expands Connectivity During Chhapra Visit

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw visited Chhapra in Bihar and inaugurated several railway services aimed at enhancing passenger connectivity and promoting regional development. Accompanied by Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, the minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening rail infrastructure and improving mobility across eastern India.
A major highlight of the visit was the flagging off of the 12527/12528 Chhapra–Delhi (Anand Vihar Terminal)–Chhapra Weekly Express, which will provide direct rail connectivity between Chhapra and the National Capital Region. The new service is expected to benefit thousands of passengers travelling for employment, education, business, and healthcare purposes.
The Railway Minister also inaugurated the 14055/14056 Mau–Delhi (Anand Vihar Terminal)–Mau Express, a move aimed at strengthening rail links between eastern Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. The service is expected to improve travel convenience and offer better connectivity for residents of the region.
In another significant development, Vaishnaw inaugurated the extension of the 65121/65122 Doharighat–Aunrihar MEMU service up to Varanasi City through video conferencing. The extension is expected to provide improved regional mobility and better commuting options for daily passengers, students, and workers travelling within the region.
Speaking on the occasion, the Railway Minister said the newly launched and extended services would contribute significantly to the socio-economic development of the region. He noted that students, farmers, traders, pilgrims, and tourists would benefit from enhanced connectivity. Improved transportation is also expected to facilitate better market access for agricultural produce and local products, boosting economic activity and cultural exchange.
Vaishnaw highlighted that the extension of the Doharighat train service to Varanasi City and the launch of the Chhapra–Delhi Weekly Express were completed within 39 days, fulfilling commitments made to the people within the promised 40-day timeframe. He described the achievement as an example of the government’s focus on delivering infrastructure projects quickly and efficiently.
The newly introduced services are expected to strengthen regional rail networks, improve passenger convenience, and support the broader goal of inclusive growth through enhanced transportation infrastructure in Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh.
