Ashwini Vaishnaw Inaugurates Aditya Complex to Boost High-Speed Rail Manufacturing

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday inaugurated the ‘Aditya’ complex at the BEML campus in Bengaluru, marking a major step toward strengthening India’s high-speed rail manufacturing capabilities. The facility, located at the Tippasandra campus, has been developed as a specialised hub for producing advanced rolling stock, including the upcoming B-28 high-speed coaches.

Addressing officials and engineers, Vaishnaw described high-speed rail technology as highly complex and said its indigenous development represents a significant milestone for India’s engineering ecosystem. He emphasized that such advancements will redefine inter-city mobility, making major urban centres function like interconnected hubs.

Highlighting future possibilities, the minister noted that travel time between Chennai and Bengaluru could be reduced to just 73 minutes with high-speed rail, effectively bringing the two cities closer economically and socially.

On enhancing rail connectivity, Vaishnaw announced new services between Mumbai and Bengaluru, including a Mail Express train with LHB coaches via Hubli and an upcoming Vande Bharat Sleeper Express. He also confirmed that a Vande Bharat Express service between Mangaluru and Bengaluru will be launched soon, with planning aligned to connect coastal cities such as Madgaon.

The minister said key technical challenges have been addressed, including electrification of the Hassan–Mangaluru section and installation of Automated Emergency Braking systems to ensure safety on steep gradients. Praising engineers at BEML, he said their work is central to building next-generation transport systems and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sustainable and inclusive infrastructure growth.
