East Central Railway GM Inspects Barwadih Station, Launches Modernized Brake Van

The General Manager of East Central Railway, Chhatrasal Singh, conducted a comprehensive inspection of Barwadih railway station and its surrounding areas on Monday (6th April, 2026), reviewing key aspects of infrastructure, passenger amenities, and operational efficiency.

During the inspection, the General Manager closely examined railway tracks, station premises, and various passenger facilities to assess their condition and functionality. He also reviewed operational arrangements to ensure smooth train movement and adherence to safety standards across the section.

As part of the visit, Singh inspected the Rolling Overhaul (ROH) depot at Barwadih, evaluating maintenance practices and infrastructure readiness. The inspection aimed at strengthening safety measures and enhancing overall service quality for passengers and freight operations in the region.

A key highlight of the visit was the launch of a modified brake van, which was flagged off in the presence of the General Manager by a senior Train Manager. The upgraded brake van has been designed with a strong focus on safety and staff comfort, incorporating several modern features.

The newly introduced brake van is equipped with solar panels and battery systems to ensure uninterrupted power supply. It also includes cushioned seating for enhanced comfort of onboard staff, improved interior design, and essential facilities such as a toilet and a looking glass. These additions are expected to significantly improve working conditions for railway personnel, particularly those deployed on long-haul freight and passenger services.

Officials said the initiative reflects Indian Railways’ continued emphasis on modernization and employee welfare, alongside its core focus on operational safety. The integration of sustainable features like solar panels also aligns with the broader push towards energy efficiency and environmentally friendly practices within the रेलवे network.

Senior officials from the Dhanbad Division were present during the inspection, including Divisional Railway Manager Akhilesh Mishra. Officers and staff from both the headquarters and the division also participated in the visit.

The inspection underscores the Railways’ commitment to maintaining high standards of infrastructure and continuously upgrading facilities to meet evolving operational and passenger needs.
