Udaipur–Ahmedabad Vande Bharat Express Inaugural Run Today: Faster Connectivity Boosts Tourism & Trade

Western Railway has announced the introduction of a new Vande Bharat Express service connecting Asarva (in Ahmedabad, Gujarat) and Udaipur City (Rajasthan), aimed at enhancing passenger convenience with faster, modern semi-high-speed travel between the two cities.

The inaugural run of the Udaipur City – Asarva Vande Bharat Express is scheduled for February 16, 2026. This special one-way inaugural train (No. 09663) will depart from Udaipur City at 12:25 hrs and arrive at Asarva at 17:15 hrs, with halts at Jawar (Zawar), Dungarpur, and Himmatnagar en route.

Regular commercial services will begin from February 18, 2026, operating six days a week (except Tuesdays). The train will run as:

  • Train No. 26963: Udaipur City to Asarva (departing around 06:10 hrs, arriving around 10:25 hrs).
  • Train No. 26964: Asarva to Udaipur City (departing around 17:45 hrs, arriving around 22:00 hrs).

The route covers approximately 296 km in about 4 hours 15 minutes, offering improved connectivity for tourists, traders, students, and residents in regions of northern Gujarat and southern Rajasthan. The train features modern amenities typical of Vande Bharat services, including AC Chair Car and Executive Chair Car coaches.

Booking for Train No. 26964 (and related services) is now open via the IRCTC website/app and other authorized platforms. For detailed halt timings, composition, fares, and real-time updates, passengers are advised to check the official Indian Railways enquiry portal at www.enquiry.indianrail.gov.in or the NTES app.

This addition strengthens Gujarat’s semi-high-speed rail network (now with six Vande Bharat services) and supports tourism and economic ties between the two states. The service is operated and maintained by the North Western Railway (NWR) zone, despite the initial announcement from Western Railway channels.
