India to Launch Nationwide AI Responsibility Campaign, Aims for Guinness World Record

As India gears up for the inauguration of the India AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, the Government of India will roll out a nationwide digital campaign on February 16–17, 2026, to promote ethical, inclusive and responsible use of Artificial Intelligence.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) under the IndiaAI Mission, is being organised in collaboration with Intel India. The campaign, titled “Most pledges received for an AI Responsibility campaign in 24 hours,” aims to set an official Guinness World Records title for the highest number of pledges collected within a 24-hour period.
Beginning at 8:00 AM IST on February 16, the digital drive seeks to mobilise citizens across the country to formally commit to responsible AI practices. The campaign is designed to reinforce India’s commitment to building a trustworthy, human-centric AI ecosystem aligned with global best practices.
Officials said the initiative is not merely symbolic but structured as an awareness-led engagement platform. The pledge portal will be accessible at aipledge.indiaai.gov.in and will offer an interactive experience. Participants will be guided through short, scenario-based questions that prompt reflection on real-world AI use cases — such as data privacy, misinformation, algorithmic bias and accountability — before submitting the formal pledge.
Upon completion, participants will receive a digital honorary badge jointly issued by IndiaAI and Intel India. They will also gain access to curated, government-led AI learning pathways aimed at enhancing digital literacy and responsible technology adoption.
The campaign has been designed to ensure wide accessibility. It does not require microphone or camera access and carries no eligibility barriers or qualifying marks. Citizens can participate by visiting the official portal, completing a simple registration process, verifying their identity through OTP via email or mobile number, engaging with awareness questions, and finally submitting the AI Responsibility Pledge.
The initiative actively encourages participation from students, teachers, parents, researchers, government officials, public sector employees, startups, industry professionals and citizens from diverse backgrounds. With a strong emphasis on youth engagement, the campaign seeks to nurture awareness around responsible AI usage, data protection, digital ethics and combating misinformation in the age of emerging technologies.
The AI Responsibility Pledge forms a central citizen-engagement pillar of the India AI Impact Summit 2026, scheduled from February 16 to 20 in New Delhi. The Summit will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and is expected to bring together Heads of State, global policymakers, technology leaders, researchers, startups, academia and civil society representatives.
Organised under the guiding pillars of People, Planet and Progress, the Summit aims to deliberate on leveraging AI for inclusive development, sustainability and equitable growth. The pledge campaign complements these objectives by directly involving citizens in shaping a culture of ethical AI usage.
Government officials stated that through strong ecosystem collaboration and nationwide mobilisation, India aims to set a historic benchmark in responsible AI engagement. By attempting a Guinness World Record while promoting awareness-driven participation, the campaign seeks to combine symbolic achievement with substantive public education.
As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly embedded in governance, industry and everyday life, the initiative underscores the importance of shared responsibility between policymakers, developers and users. By encouraging millions to take a conscious pledge, India hopes to further strengthen public trust in emerging technologies and position itself as a global leader in responsible AI innovation.
