Konkan Railway Services Disrupted Due to Tunnel Leakage; Trains Cancelled and Diverted

Pernem, Goa – July 10, 2024: A significant disruption has occurred on the Konkan Railway route today following the recurrence of water seepage in the Pernem tunnel between Madure and Pernem section of the Karwar region. This incident, which first occurred yesterday at 14:35 hrs and was initially resolved by 22:13 hrs, has intensified since its reappearance at 02:59 hrs on July 10, 2024.

In response to the worsening situation, Konkan Railway authorities have taken swift measures, resulting in the cancellation and diversion of several trains to ensure passenger safety and operational efficiency.

Cancellation of Trains: The following trains scheduled for departure on July 10, 2024, have been cancelled:

  • Train no. 22229 Mumbai CSMT – Madgaon Jn. Vande Bharat Express
  • Train no. 12051 Mumbai CSMT – Madgaon Jn. Janshatabdi Express
  • Train no. 10103 Mumbai CSMT – Madgaon Jn. Mandovi Express

Additionally, the train scheduled for departure on July 9, 2024, has also been cancelled:

  • Train no. 12133 Mumbai CSMT – Mangaluru Jn. Express

Diversion of Trains: In order to minimize disruption, the following diversions have been implemented:

  • Train no. 12618 H. Nizamuddin – Ernakulam Jn. Mangala Express, scheduled to depart on July 9, 2024, will now travel via Panvel – Lonavala – Pune – Miraj – Londa – Madgaon.

Continuing Disruptions and Further Actions: As the situation persists, additional diversions have been put into effect following the latest bulletin issued on July 10, 2024:

Diversion of Trains:

  • Train no. 19577 Tirunelveli – Jamnagar Express, originally scheduled for departure on July 9, 2024, and currently stationed at Kumta, will be rerouted via Shoranur Jn. – Erode Jn. – Dharmavaram – Guntakal Jn – Raichur – Wadi – Solapur Jn. – Pune Jn. – Lonavala – Panvel.
  • Train no. 16336 Nagarcoil – Gandhidham Express, currently stationed at Udupi, will follow the same diversion route.
  • Train no. 12283 Ernakulam – H. Nizamuddin Express, currently stationed at Jokatte, will also be rerouted accordingly.
  • Train no. 22655 Ernakulam – H. Nizamuddin Express, scheduled for departure on July 10, 2024, and currently stationed at Thalassery, will follow the diversion route.
  • Train no. 16346 Thiruvananthapuram Central – Lokmanya Tilak (T) Express, originally scheduled for departure on July 10, 2024, has been rescheduled to depart at 16:55 hrs from Thiruvananthapuram Central and will be diverted via the prescribed route.
