PM Modi Launches Ambitious ‘Pradhanmantri Suryodaya Yojana’ Targeting Rooftop Solar on 1 Crore Houses
Reduction in Electricity Bills and Enhanced Self-Reliance
In a proactive move to empower households and enhance self-reliance in the energy sector, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, fresh from his visit to Ayodhya for the consecration of Suryawanshi Bhagwan Shri Ram, chaired a meeting at his residence on Lok Kalyan Marg. The focus of the meeting was the launch of the “Pradhanmantri Suryodaya Yojana,” a groundbreaking initiative with the goal of installing rooftop solar panels on one crore houses.
During the session, the Prime Minister emphasized the potential of harnessing solar power on every household’s roof, envisioning a reduction in electricity bills and fostering true self-reliance in meeting their energy needs.
The scheme, “Pradhanmantri Suryodaya Yojana,” seeks to provide electricity access to low and middle-income households through solar rooftop installations. Additionally, the initiative aims to encourage surplus electricity generation, offering an avenue for additional income.
In line with the ambitious goals of the scheme, Prime Minister Modi issued directives for the initiation of a nationwide campaign. The campaign’s primary objective is to mobilize residential consumers, urging them to embrace rooftop solar technology on a large scale. This collective effort aligns with the government’s commitment to promoting clean and sustainable energy solutions while economically empowering citizens across the country.
