Air India Unveils Elegant New Uniforms Designed by Manish Malhotra

Air India, the national carrier, introduced its latest Pilot and Cabin Crew uniforms in a dazzling showcase on December 12, created by renowned Indian couturier, Manish Malhotra. The uniforms pay homage to Air India’s illustrious history and signify a bright and promising future for the airline.

Inspired by India’s Rich Heritage The uniforms, a vision of Manish Malhotra, prominently feature three quintessential Indian colors – red, aubergine, and gold. These hues symbolize the confident and vibrant spirit of the new India.

Stylish Ensemble for Cabin Crew For the female cabin crew, the new uniforms showcase ombre sarees with a modern twist, elegantly designed by Manish Malhotra. The airline’s female crew members will have the option to wear these ready-to-wear ombre sarees with comfortable pants, offering flexibility and a unique blend of East-meets-West style.

The attire includes intricate jharokha patterns and incorporates the Vista, the new Air India logo icon, paired with a blouse and blazer, presenting a neo-traditional appeal. The senior female cabin crew will flaunt aubergine-to-burgundy ombre sarees with aubergine blazers, while their junior counterparts will don vibrant red-to-purple sarees coupled with red blazers.

Dapper Look for Pilots Pilots will exude sophistication in classic black double-breasted suits featuring a print inspired by the Vista. This timeless and well-crafted design adds a touch of elegance to the cockpit crew’s appearance.

Gradual Rollout The rollout of these new uniforms will be conducted in phases over the coming months, making its first appearance with the entry of Air India’s inaugural Airbus A350.

Expressing his vision for the project, Manish Malhotra shared, “My aim was to create uniforms that capture the essence of India’s diverse culture and traditions while also embodying a modern and sophisticated look. I am honoured to have been given the opportunity to design the uniforms for Air India.”

These uniforms represent a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity, encapsulating the cultural richness of India while providing a fresh and contemporary look for the national flag-bearer.
