Major Infrastructure Boost as Wardha-Nanded New Line Progresses in Nagpur Division
In a significant development for the Nagpur division, the construction of the Wardha-Nanded New Line via Yavatmal-Pusad is making substantial strides. With a total estimated cost of ₹3445.48 crore, the project has seen an expenditure of ₹1910.07 crore to date.
The overall physical progress stands at an impressive 47%, covering a length of 270 km. The land acquisition phase has been notably efficient, with 89% completion, encompassing 1911 out of 2138 hectares.
As construction advances, key milestones include:
- Earthwork: 87.54/201.14 Lcum (44%)
- Formation: 40/284.60 km
- Major Bridges: 32/80
- Minor Bridges: 50/320
- Road over Bridge (ROB): 43 in Progress
- Rail Under Bridge (RUB) / Limited Height Subway (LHS): 19/52 in Progress
- Station Building: 3/27
- Tunnels: 6 in progress out of a total 8 km length
- Track Linking: 28/284.60 track km
The completion of this new line is poised to enhance connectivity between the Vidarbha and Marathwada regions, fostering economic and social development.
Providing a broader context, Central Railway’s divisions have made commendable progress in the current fiscal year, with a cumulative completion of 161.80 km of multitracking (new line/doubling/3rd/4th line) since April 2023. The railway division had allocated ₹3890 crore for new lines, doubling, and third/fourth lines this year, with an expenditure of ₹2990 crore executed thus far. This ambitious endeavor is set to fortify railway infrastructure and connectivity across Central Railway’s five divisions.
