Torrential Rainfall Hits North Tamil Nadu, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema

In a recent weather development, heavy to very heavy rainfall has drenched various locations in North Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported significant rainfall, with isolated areas experiencing extremely heavy falls. The intensity of the downpour is measured in centimeters.

Tamil Nadu: Zone 14 witnessed the highest rainfall in Perungudi (district Chennai) with a staggering 45 cm, followed by Poonamallee (district Tiruvallur) at 34 cm and Avadi (district Tiruvallur) at 28 cm. Several other regions, including KVK Kattukuppam AWS, Chennai(N), and Tambaram, reported 24 cm each.

Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam: Bapatla (district Bapatla) and Nellore (district Spsr Nellore) reported 22 cm of rainfall each, while other areas, including Ongole, Kakinada, and Vijayawada, also witnessed varying degrees of precipitation.

Rayalaseema: In Gudur (district Tirupati), heavy rainfall of 28 cm was recorded, with Srikalahasti (district Tirupati) and Kodur (district Ysr District) experiencing 24 cm each.

The recorded figures were collected from various monitoring stations, including Automatic Weather Stations (AWS), Automatic Rain Gauge (ARG), Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Agriculture Field Meteorological Unit (AMFU), by the India Meteorological Department.
