Development Milestones Unveiled for Mumbai Division as Kasara Yard Undergoes Transformation
In a notable advancement for the Indian Railways, the Kasara yard modification project in the Mumbai division has demonstrated substantial progress, signaling a significant boost to railway infrastructure. The project, with a budget of ₹19.99 Crores, has achieved an impressive overall physical progress of 78%.
The scope of work encompasses various crucial elements:
- Down Yard: Enhancement of reception and dispatch lines for down yard lines 1, 2, 3, extending up to 844 meters.
- Platform Expansion: Widening and extension of platforms 1 and 2.
- Up Yard: Lengthening of reception and dispatch lines for up yard lines 4, 5, 6.
- Infrastructure Reconstruction: Dismantling and reconstruction of the Road Over Bridge (ROB).
Several components of the project have already been completed:
- Platform Covershed: Successfully completed for 124 meters on the Igatpuri end and 144 meters on the CSMT end.
- Purlin Launching: Accomplished.
- Micro Piling and Pile Caps: Completed in approaches.
Ongoing activities include:
- ROB Reconstruction: In progress.
- Platform Extension: Advancing towards completion.
- Micro Pile Construction: Underway for earth retention.
- Excavation: Currently in progress for abutments.
Upon the successful completion of this initiative, the mobility of trains in the Kasara to Igatpuri section is expected to witness a substantial improvement.
