Ban Imposed on Halal-Certified Food Products in Uttar Pradesh by Yogi Adityanath Government

In a significant move, the Yogi Adityanath-led government in Uttar Pradesh has issued an immediate ban on the manufacturing, storage, distribution, and sale of food products carrying “Halal Certification” within the state boundaries. The ban takes effect immediately, with an exception for products intended for export.

The decision comes in response to concerns raised about certain companies engaging in business practices under the guise of “Halal Certification.” Some companies were found to have labeled dairy, textiles, sugar, snacks, spices, and soap products as certified under the Halal process.

In light of this, the Yogi Adityanath government has taken a stern stance on the issue. Cases have been registered at Hazratganj police station against companies selling products with Halal certification. FIRs have been filed under IPC sections 120 b, 153A, 298, 384, 420, 467, 468, and 471.

The move is part of the government’s effort to address concerns related to the authenticity and credibility of products labeled with Halal certification. FIRs have been filed based on a complaint lodged by Shailendra Sharma at Hazratganj police station.

The Halal India Private Limited in Chennai and the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind Halal Trust in Delhi are among the organizations involved in providing Halal certification to companies. The Yogi government’s strict action aims to regulate and ensure transparency in the certification process, emphasizing the need for businesses to adhere to ethical and legal standards in their operations.
