India’s Defence Sector Harnesses Cutting-Edge Technology, Announces Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh

India’s Defence sector is now armed with state-of-the-art technology, according to Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, who presided over the Indian Military Heritage Festival, organized by the United Service Institution of India (USI).

In a groundbreaking announcement, Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted the significant advancements in the country’s Defence sector, underscoring the readiness of the Indian Armed Forces to embrace modern technologies. He declared that unlike the past, the forces now possess a range of advanced weaponry, including drones, heliborne operations, and UAVs. Furthermore, they are poised to explore new horizons, encompassing fields like Quantum Computing, Artificial Intelligence, and Cyber Security.

“The impact of disruptive technologies on military operations will continue to grow, and harnessing these technologies is vital for maintaining military superiority,” stated Dr. Jitendra Singh during his address.

Dr. Singh further emphasized that India is at the forefront of adapting disruptive technologies capable of reshaping the defence landscape. This transformation not only strengthens national security but also establishes India as a global technology leader in the Defence sector. He highlighted the country’s achievement in Quantum Technology, noting that India is among the seven elite nations globally using Quantum Technology. The launch of the National Quantum Mission by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in March of this year further underscores India’s commitment to this advanced technology.

Dr. Jitendra Singh shared details about various initiatives and research hubs working on these technologies across the country:

• i-Hub Quantum: Located at IISER, Pune, is focused on Quantum Technologies and the development of atom interferometry-based sensing and navigation devices.
• TIH at IIT Madras: Known as IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation, it is dedicated to creating a secure mobile phone for defence personnel.
• TIH at IIT Roorkee: Named iHUB Divya Sampark, it supports the development of India’s first indigenous Nano drone for use by the Indian Armed Forces during counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations.
• TIH at IIT Mandi: Referred to as the Human Computer Interaction (HCI) Foundation, it is developing the Naval Combat Management System (NCMS).

Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted that these disruptive technologies are continually evolving, and their influence on military operations will continue to expand. Embracing and utilizing these technologies is indispensable for ensuring military supremacy and national security in the modern era.

Dr. Singh also commended the outstanding strides made in Science, Technology, and Innovation in India under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He acknowledged the success stories of projects like Chandrayaan-3, Aditya L1, and the development of COVID-19 vaccines, which have significantly elevated India’s global standing.

Finally, Dr. Jitendra Singh lauded Prime Minister Modi for his leadership on the global stage, especially after the successful G20 Summit in New Delhi. He remarked that the Global Biofuels Alliance, announced during the G20 Summit, will greatly contribute to India’s efforts to achieve Net Zero by 2070. Hailing the inclusion of the African Union in the G20, Dr. Singh asserted that Prime Minister Modi has established India as a nation ready to lead the world.

This declaration marks a significant milestone in India’s pursuit of advanced military technology, ensuring the country’s readiness to meet evolving challenges on the defence front.
